Chase Rice
Biography
Chase Rice (born September 19, 1985) is an American country singer-songwriter, former college football player, NASCAR pit crew member, and reality TV personality. Born in Ormond Beach, Florida, he was raised on a farm near Asheville, North Carolina, where he developed a love for country music and the outdoors.
Before his music career, Rice played linebacker for the University of North Carolina. An ankle injury ended his hopes of playing professional football, after which he worked on the pit crew for Hendrick Motorsports in NASCAR, helping championship-winning teams.
Rice first gained national attention in 2010 as a contestant on Survivor: Nicaragua, where he finished as the runner-up. Around the same time, he began pursuing songwriting in Nashville. His breakthrough came when he co-wrote "Cruise," Florida Georgia Line's blockbuster hit, one of the best-selling country songs of all time.
